How to setup a webcam

Basically, the scope of this article cannot cover the entire plethora of webcams that are out on the market. I chose the Airlink101 AIC-250W, that I got working fairly easily, after I figured it out for the first time.
I also have a D-Link camera model: DCS-2100+ up and running. If you have Internet Explorer running under Windows you should be able to see it below:

The steps to follow are:

Well, for the time being, please follow the detailed instruction booklet that came with your camera. If that does not help, feel free to ask around on that ginormous Google search engine.

The pitfalls that I encountered are:

If you have much difficulty, search on the forums [link here] or call the tech support for the specific webcam that you purchased.

One of the issues with running a website is that everything must be configured exactly correct. My webcam is running off my cable modem, which I have going through a router and out to the internet. The router port maps traffic to / from my webcam on a very specific IP address. If this changes, guess what? No more traffic from the webcam to the internet!

D-Link camera requires Internet Explorer. Oh, wait, Windows only. Whaa?! I can't even begin to fathom the words. I guess MS makes some cool web browser products that some vendors like to cater to. Why not make something for the rest of us too! I'll suck this one up for now....
